Year Review It’s the beginning of the new year and although we go forward, it’s always wonderful to see how far we have come by reflecting on the past.
So, let’s have a look at the past year.
At the beginning of the year, Druidwu, our sole everything for a while at Care Club was having a hard time keeping up with the club activities as his
life was taking up a lot of his time. In lieu of this, I stepped in and took over the club activities as I found myself with a whole lot of time once
again after a long time being away from the club.
The club was active and we were still getting a wonderful turnout for our contests and this is what I focused on and I realized we needed someone to
take over the contests and contests alone so he will not have any other responsibilities to worry about. Azmyst stepped in on the 9th of January as
Contests Admin and announced the New Beginings Contest.
Although he was the Contests Admin, Azymst decided to update the member list with the watchlist and he did this so that there will be only active
members in the club. Over time, members leave DA and others delete their accounts we accumulate a lot of dead accounts on the club watch and cleaning
out is a good way to keep it alive.
Since Care Club is all about community spirit, we encouraged our members to join in to give prize donations for our contests. Dannscreations, one of
our regular and most generous contributor to club contests, gave her first prizes for the January Contest.
On 23rd January, the Care Club reach 26,000 page views which was caught by DMKAAS and Damaskangel.
January 2008 saw the most number of new additions to the club since the club was formed back in April of 2006.
In March, our Gallery Admin, Elainelight left the staff position after many months. Damaskangel joined the staff as our new Gallery Admin although the
work she does is not only limited to the Gallery Submissions.
Thanks to *DAnnsCreations and =kasumiakiko the club got subscribed for the first time in a long time by someone other than the club staff.
On 27th March, Azmyst layeth the smack down on the members and cleaned out all inactive members again. This is a major cleanout and he worked really hard
to make sure he didn’t miss out on any active members and gave enough time for everyone active to respond before deleting them off. Along with the clean
out, some major changes were made to the club rules as well.
Care Club celebrated it’s 2nd birthday on 4th April. The club had Care around the world and a Cake and Card Design event which was not really a contest
but more of a feature for everyone who took part. Unfortunately, not a lot of deviants took part in this event last year but hopefully this year, we will
have a better turnout.
Although the club had the DAMN Chat room for a long time, it was never that active so in June, to make the place a more active place where it is possible
for members to go and share their work, we started doing the Chat Features. This was basically a feature for everyone who turned up at the time we
announced it and gave us a thumb. We welcomed our first Chat Operator, angelitonegro during this time as well.
Like most clubs, we had a lot of problems with deviants faving member work in the club gallery. After much deliberation we decided to change the whole
gallery submission system and not submit the artwork to the club gallery but instead to fav it and link to it in the club gallery with thumbs. On 1st July,
we made the change and we are still waiting for the new DA system which would be more club friendly.
The club was mostly on hiatus during November but things were kept in check somehow by Damaskangel who worked very hard.
All in all, it’s been a wonderful year for the club and we hope to only get better in the future and let our community grow. We would love to hear your
views on the club and suggestions on how to improve or make things more interesting here. We always welcome new ideas. Do share your thoughts with us.
